The story tells of weddings by proxy, weddings that were often made even with fraud: it happened that husbands known only by photos did not match the image, it happened that some of them refused to get off the ship. The story tells of the journey of a group of Sicilian women, the beginning of the last century, who went by proxy brides in America. The theme, as you can understand, has an international story that tells the emigration to one of its most in human such as the trafficking of women.
The practice was that the marriage was celebrated in the country of origin and registered there. During the wedding celebration, in the church, in place of the groom there was a friend or relative of the bride. At the end of the ceremony, a short and melancholy party followed and afterwards, we set off along the ocean. The most desperate faced the journey alone to get married immediately after they had reached their destination. As soon as they set foot on the quay they were taken to one of the churches in the port, and there they quickly married them. This is why they were called “The brides of the quays”.

I co-authored with Lucia Sardo, an original text, which was a big success,  unexpectedly, the characters are presented to us, they wanted to be told, and wanted to exist, and we as in an automatic writing, in a trans, humbly put ourselves to their service. This our work has grown to the brim and overflowed for the passion and the great love that we put in.
The show was produced and staged by a large and important Italian theater, the Stabile theater of Catania, directed by Giuseppe di Pasquale, the costumes were designed by the great and famous designer Marella Ferrera.
